Rent furniture or choose a furnished apartment?

Compare the whole stay, including setup, pickup, access and changes, before choosing a furnished home or a separate furniture rental.

MIMO field notes · Furnished stays · · MIMO editorial team

An unfurnished apartment plus a furniture rental can be an alternative to a furnished home. It also creates an additional agreement, delivery and collection process. Compare the whole arrangement before deciding that the lower base rent is the better option.

Match the contract periods

Confirm the apartment term and the furniture rental term separately. Ask about minimum periods, extension notice, damage handling and pickup at the end. If the apartment stay changes, find out whether the furniture arrangement changes with it or continues under different conditions.

Request an itemized furniture inventory and the service scope. A rental package may include room delivery and assembly, or it may not. Ask whether household essentials such as cookware and linens are included instead of assuming they come with the furniture.

Compare complete costs

Separate furniture arrangement Furnished home
Apartment charges plus furniture charges Accommodation quote and confirmed inclusions
Delivery, assembly and pickup to confirm Arrival inventory and service responsibilities to confirm
Coordination with the building Provider’s approved arrival process

Keep refundable amounts and usage-based charges separate from ordinary spending. A package quote and an accommodation quote need to cover the same dates and household to be comparable.

Allow time for coordination

Check whether furniture can arrive before you do, who receives it and whether the building requires a reservation. Ask where you will sleep if the delivery date moves. At departure, coordinate collection before access to the apartment ends.

If you expect repeated stays or have specific furniture needs, a separate arrangement may deserve consideration. If you need a ready setup with one responsible provider, a furnished home may reduce coordination. Neither is automatically cheaper or simpler. Use written quotes and a calendar to see which arrangement fits your actual stay.
