Curbside, room delivery or installation: define the service level

Specify where furniture delivery ends and which handling, assembly and disposal tasks are included before comparing quotes.

MIMO field notes · Delivery & installation · · MIMO editorial team

The word “delivery” can cover very different services. One quote may end at a curb or receiving area; another may include carrying items into rooms and assembling them. Define the service you need before selecting an offer.

Name the endpoint

State where the goods must end up: loading area, building reception, unit entrance or final room. Ask the supplier to identify the actual included service in writing. Do not assume that a driver can carry furniture through a building simply because the address includes a unit number.

Confirm who supplies the crew and who controls scheduling. A product supplier may use a transport carrier whose scope differs from a local installation team’s work.

Add the related tasks

List unpacking, assembly, placement, installation, packaging removal and old-item removal separately. Request product-specific installation by appropriate personnel where required. A room-delivery service is not automatically authorization for wall mounting or other building work.

Service item Confirmation needed
Carry-in Approved route and final location
Assembly Exact products and instructions
Placement Approved layout and permitted movement
Disposal Packaging or old furniture actually included

Match the service to the building

Ask about loading arrangements, reservations, access hours and required documentation. Provide these constraints when requesting a quote. A service that works for a house may need a different plan for a multi-unit building.

Record what happens if access is unavailable or the route cannot be completed. Check any applicable redelivery or storage terms through the actual supplier agreement.

Before the appointment, give the property and delivery team the same written note. Afterward, reconcile what was received and what work remains.

A higher service level may or may not be right for your project. The essential point is that the quote, building plan and operating team agree on where responsibility changes. That avoids counting a curbside arrival as a completed apartment setup.
